David Cameron hails Cumbrian food producers

HUNDREDS of people flocked to an event showcasing the finest of Cumbria's culinary scene.
A special Cumbria day event took place in the Jubilee Room of the House of Commons, in London, organised by Cumbria's six MPs.
Visitors crammed into the room to sample everything from Cumbrian cheeses to award-winning beers. The event received a boost when prime minister David Cameron dropped in and sampled produce from across South Cumbria including Green's Pies, from Barrow, and Hardknott Brewery, from Millom.
Mr Cameron said: "At a time when people are worried about 'what's in the food I buy - is it what it says on the tin?', it's momentous for local producers to say you can be sure."
Food companies which attended included the Agnes Rose, fruit vinegars and infused oils, Appleby Creamery, artisan cheese producer, Broughton in Furness Village Bakery, Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding, Coniston Brewery, Cranstons, purveyers of fine foods and meats since 1914, Dalemain Marmalade Festival, Grasmere Gingerbread, Greens Bakery, Barrow in Furness, Hardknott Brewery, Hawkshead Brewery, Hawkshead Relish, HM Haverigg Prison Smokery, More? Artisan Bakery, Sillfield, rare breed free range meat, The Lake District Cheese Company, The Toffee Shop, Penrith, Thornby Moor Dairy, Ulverston Brewing Company and United Biscuits
Hospitality companies including Cumbria Tourism, Hadrian's Wall Heritage, Augill Castle, Cumbria Mountain Rescue Service, English Lakes Hotels, VisitEngland, Windermere Lake Cruises, Connecting Cumbria, Outdoor Industries Association, Blue Badge Guides, Lake District Estates and the Lake District National Park Authority, the Stobart Group, the Lakeland Arts Trust and Honister Slate Mine also attended.

It was nicely done but under the flag of CUMBERLAND not CUMBRIA as they are different as registered with the proper authorities. On posting my comment I put Workington, SCOTLAND as the council ,ALLERDALE HOUSE is flying the SCOTTISH FLAG not the English flag (the cross of St.George).
