Cumbria pupils perform above England averages in SATs

CUMBRIAN schoolchildren have performed above the England averages in their primary school tests.

The Government has today released national, regional and local authority data for Key Stage Two tests.

The Department for Education aims for all 11-year-olds to reach a Level Four or above in English, reading, writing, maths and science.

The tests and assessments took place in May while the children were in Year Six. They have now moved up to secondary schools.

In English, 88 per cent of Cumbrian pupils reached a Level Four, while the England average is 85 per cent.
