The incident happened at around 7am on Friday morning at the junction of Rutland Street and Westmorland Street, Barrow.

The area surrounding the incident has been cordoned off and residents from the house have been evacuated.

A resident nearby said: "I was just waking up when there was a massive bang that shook the house.

"I had no idea what happened until I was walking to work and saw the blue lights.

"The wind has been awful all night."

In Whitehead Street, in Barrow, firefighters were called out after wind loosened a chimney stack. They made it safe before returning to the station.

Firefighters were called to North Row in Barrow after the roof of a property blew off onto a neighbouring house - fire crews have secured the roof using a 30m line.
