Bluebirds' trophy clash postponed

BARROW AFC'S FA Trophy tie at Gateshead has been called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
Match officials made the call at 1pm, after sleet and snow showers in the North East meant the pitch was unplayable. An inspection at 4p on Friday had deemed the pitch playable, but the intervening 21 hours saw it become unplayable.
The only match the Heed have been able to stage at their International Stadium home in more than a month was their 1-0 New Year's Day Blue Square Bet Premier defeat to Barrow. In total, six matches of their last seven have been postponed due to waterlogged pitches.
The surface at the International Stadium was relaid in the summer to make it laser level and the plan had been for more work after the FA Trophy tie with the Bluebirds.
Gateshead say the third round tie has been rescheduled for Tuesday night.
