Bash raises cash for stroke victim
Last updated at 14:56, Thursday, 01 November 2012
LOCAL bands The Chevrons and Collie Stewart and the Roomers played at a charity event at the Cemetery Cottages in Barrow last week to raise funds for stroke victim Mike Atkinson.
The event, which was organised by four former colleagues of 51-year-old Mr Atkinson, was attended by scores of his family and friends and raised £2,500 in total.
One of the organisers, Vivien Cooksey, said the event was a huge success: “We raised more than we needed. The donations bought an electric wheelchair and we gave the rest of the money to Mike to go out and do things with the family.”
