Dale Burns, 27, died in Furness General Hospital after he was Tasered on August 16, 2011, following a disturbance in his Hartington Street home.

The inquest will open at 10am on Monday in the council chamber at County Hall, Kendal.

Deputy coroner for South and East Cumbria, Mr Alan Sharp, will conduct the inquest, which will take place before a jury of 11 people

It is expected to last up to three weeks and feature evidence from approximately 50 witnesses, including members of Mr Burns’ family, neighbours and witnesses, police officers, medical staff and expert witnesses.

Have your say

It's certainly been a long time coming! Not sure we should be using the emotive 'Taser Death' though - surely that's one of the things the inquest is to prove? Was taser the cause or not? Either way, the death of a well liked lad at such a young age is tragic :(
