Barrow RNLI save stranded walkers

LIFEBOAT crews were called out twice in under an hour to walkers trapped by an incoming tide.

An elderly couple and a young family were rescued by Barrow RNLI this afternoon, in separate incidents, after the tide had cut off their path back to Roa Island.
Both the elderly couple and the young family had been on a walk to Foulney Island, just off Roa Island, when they became stranded.
One of the off-duty crew members spotted the walkers and raised the alarm back at base to rescue them.
