STAFF at Kimberly-Clark in Barrow were evacuated after a crane caught fire on Friday afternoon.
Two fire engines from Barrow fire station and one from Walney were called out to the paper mill in Park Road at around 1.30pm.
No-one was injured in the incident, and fire crews had the blaze under control by around 3pm.
Crew manager Simon Rodger said: "There was no structural damage to the building, but there was damage to an old crane."
The cause of the fire is unknown.

Never mind wanting a pat on the back for regularly tackling 'all the fires', why are there so many on the site? Maybe one day one of these frequently occuring fires will be of a type that no one can put out until its too late.

Have your say
Obviously you don't have a clue about the papermill. Fires are few and far between these days, and the point I was making is that the papermill lads tackle the fire before the fire service turn up. If we did'nt they would get out of control!!!
I don't know where your getting all YOUR information from about number of fires on site, cause I assure you it's false!!
