Dean Kelly, 37, of Harrison Street, pleaded guilty to wasting police time last week and appeared for sentencing at Furness Magistrates' Court today.

On January 11 he had claimed a woman was standing outside his home with a gun, sparking a huge response from emergency services.

Kelly has competed at the World Dwarf Games where he won an array of medals – in August last year he received a silver medal following the 100m at the games in Michigan, in the United States.

At last week's hearing Kelly was told he could face jail as a result of his actions.
