Barrow AFC fan banned from games

A BARROW AFC fan has been banned from attending football matches in England, Scotland and Wales, for a second time.

Jon Doherty, 20, of Victoria Road, Barrow, was handed a three year football banning order after he was arrested by British Transport Police for being drunk and disorderly at Preston Railway station on November 3 on his way home from Barrow's first round FA Cup tie against Guiseley.

He pleaded guilty to drunk and disorderly when he appeared before Preston Magistrates' Court on December 18 and he was given a three year banning order and ordered to pay a fine of £70 and ordered to pay court costs of £75.

Chief Inspector Mike O’Hagan, of Barrow police, said: “Doherty had returned from going to his first football match since his previous three year football banning order had expired.

“His initial ban expired in September  and, sadly, by not keeping hold of his senses and acting in an aggressive manner, he now faces another three year ban.

“Cumbria Constabulary works closely with football clubs, stewards and other partners to ensure that football matches are enjoyable, family events that are not spoiled by violence.

“Doherty couldn’t keep hold of his senses and this case demonstrates how important it is to not drink too much and lose control. Everyone has the right to enjoy themselves safely and if there are a few that drink too much, go too far and spoil things for others – they should expect to be arrested and face the consequences of their actions.”

Angry fan

You must be over the limit to write this comment, or you are just bloody stupid. I have personally experienced this type of drunken behaviour, and for him, it's not just once, but the second time he has been found guilty. What a waste of public money because of his irresponsible actions.

Sorry, you need to grow up fast.
