Baker on target as AFC claim pre-season win over Furness XI

Both goals were scored in the first-half of a match in which Barrow fielded six trialist players in the starting XI.

A further three trialists played the second half as Bluebirds manager Dave Bayliss – who played himself at centre-back for the first 45 minutes – made seven changes at the interval.

The scoring was opened on seven minutes when Barrow midfielder Richie Baker found a trialist, who found the bottom corner with a firm drive from the edge of the area.

Baker made it 2-0 on 27 minutes when he drew a foul on the edge of the 18-yard box and converted the free-kick himself.

Assistant manager Ashley Hoskin, who spoke to the press after the match, refused to disclose the names of any of the trialists.
