Attempted robbery at Barrow newsagent

A SHOP worker was injured in a scuffle with would-be robber.

The assailant entered Greengate Street News, on the corner of Greengate Street and Rawlinson Street, Barrow, at 10am yesterday.

Police say the man, believed to be in his early 20s and wearing a grey tracksuit, concealed his face before threatening a male member of staff and demanding money from the till.

The victim received minor injuries during a scuffle with the man, who left the shop without any money and was last seen running down Rawlinson Street, in the direction of Abbey Road.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Barrow CID on 101.

Have your say

So let's move the police station from the centre of town where all the crime is to the outskirts!

It's only a matter of time before we see perspex barriers in place, to protect shop workers and there stock. I certainly dont want to see that, but deep social problems in Central Ward need to be addressed. All the shops, that have so far been targeted, surround this area, where are the foot patrols!!!
