Archbishop of York heading to South Lakes on Cumbria visit

THE Archbishop of York is to visit Ambleside and Cartmel on his trip to Cumbria next week.

Dr John Sentamu is making a two-day visit to the county on Wednesday and Thursday to see the work of the Diocese of Carlisle.

Dr Sentamu will tour the Diocese’s Rydal Hall in Ambleside on Wednesday, he will then visit Cartmel Priory Church where he will answer questions from the students of Cartmel Priory CE School.

Later he will meet with directors and apprentices at the Lake District National Park Authority’s headquarters in Kendal.

On Thursday Dr Sentamu will visit a farm in Kirkoswald, near Penrith, to hear about the work of the Ecumenical Auction Mart Chaplaincy Team. That will be followed by a visit to Carlisle’s Trinity School to see newly finished building work and to meet with staff and pupils.

Dr Sentamu’s visit will end at the University of Cumbria’s Fusehill campus, where he will take part in a question and answer session with students
