The village of Greenodd is three miles north east of Ulverston, next to the A590.

Penny Bridge is also three miles from Ulverston, Lowick is five miles north of Ulverston, while Bouth is two miles north east of Greenodd.

Eating out

The Farmers Arms is set in the hamlet of Lowick Green, two miles from Greenodd, while the White Hart in Bouth is a 17th-century inn, well-known for its traditional Cumbrian breakfasts, food menu and a large selection of ales and malt whiskies.

The Red Lion in Lowick serves ales and home-cooked food.

The Brittania in Penny Bridge is also serving food.

Nearby Ulverston and its good selection of pubs and restaurants is always worth checking out.

The Ship Inn, in Greenodd itself, hosts live music and has its own micro brewery, The Greenodd Brewery. The pub has between two and four hand-pulled ales from its brewery.

This traditional village pub has beautiful slate floors, a beamed ceiling, leather suites and an open fire. There is also a games room.

Nearby there is the charming Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, the Lakeland Motor Museum at Backbarrow and the Laurel and Hardy Museum in Ulverston is three miles away.

Holker Hall and Gardens are just four miles from Greenodd.

Greenodd has a fish and chip shop, bakery and a butcher. It has its own village store, which is also a newsagent and provides post office facilities.

A business park is developing in Greenodd, which includes a bespoke furniture-making business and an agricultural store. There is also an excellent wine shop at the business park as well.

A short drive will see you in Ulverston, where there is an indoor and outdoor market, alongside supermarkets and boutiques.

These shops are also handy for the Penny Bridge, Bouth and Lowick area.

Politics

Greenodd and Penny Bridge are represented in parliament by Barrow and Furness Labour MP John Woodcock. Bouth is represented by Westmorland and Lonsdale Liberal Democrat MP Tim Farron. Janet Willis is both a local county and district councillor, as well as joint owner of the village store.
