AN Ulverston couple tied the knot on a crisp mid-winter day with a rustic-chic theme before ringing in the new year as husband and wife.

Clare Gorman, 30, a primary school teacher at Holy Family Catholic Primary School in Barrow, married James Rowland-Smith, 34, a quality manager at James Fisher  and  Sons on December 28, 2015. 

How the couple met: On a night out in Ulverston. 

Proposal: James proposed on a romantic picnic at Tarn Hows, Coniston. 

Wedding venue: Lowick Parish Church. 

Theme: Rustic hearts  and  winter. 

Bride's Outfit: A Maggie Sottero fit and flare dress called Stella', adorned with exquisite lace and Swarovski crystals.

Groomsmen: Robert Fox (best man) Paul Gorman, Mark Gorman, James Gorman, Bruce Rowland-Smith, Nils Fogh and Tom Mason (page boy).

Bridesmaids: Christina Dixon, Rochelle Berry and Sara Croskery. 

Flower girls: Emily (the couple's daughter), Jessica, Ella, Katy and Evelyn.  

Flowers: Dodd's Florist in Ulverston. Dusty pink antique roses with ivory shades, eucalyptus, brunia berries and pine cones. The bride's bouquet included a rustic heart. 

Transport: The couple were very kindly lent a new white Range Rover as a wedding car as well as a Range Rover Evoque to match their own as transport for the wedding party. The groom also used his own Land Rover Defender which he has owned since he was 15 years old.

Reception: The Villa, Levens. 

Table settings: Bark slices with seasonal flowers, berries and pine cones with candles in hurricane glass lamps. 

Favours: Personalised love-heart tea light holders from Brambles boutique in Ulverston. 

Cake: A rustic winter cake with pine cones and hearts and presented on a bark slice, kindly made by a friend's mother. 

First Dance: All Of Me by John Legend. 

Entertainment: Jay the pianist and a band from Manchester called Friends of the Bride. 

Honeymoon: The couple took their daughter, Emily, to Disneyland Paris over new year and enjoyed a second honeymoon in Mauritius over the Easter holidays.
