Generous Barrow band sounds the right note with heroes’ donation
Last updated at 10:15, Tuesday, 12 February 2013
FANS of one of Barrow’s longest running bands enjoyed a set of heavy metal classics at a gig by Dark Angel.
But the event, at the Albion, in Duke Street, also served another purpose other than entertaining their supporters.
The band raised £720 for the Help the Heroes charity from sales of its EP and other donations – and they chose the gig to present a cheque to them.
The charity is dedicated to supporting current and former servicemen and women injured while serving their country.
Singer John Lamb and bandmates Gary Wheeler, Russell Lamb, Lee McCulloch and Lee Wakefield thanked Albion landlords Alan Pye and Linda Potter, as well as Johnny Sparks of Johnny’s Tattoos, for helping them raise the money.
