THE magical children's story featuring an ageless Peter Pan was brought to the stage at Barrow's Civic Hall back in 1989.

Rehearsals featured in The Mail on Monday, February 6, and the article noted: "The Young Image Musical Society is staging the J. M. Barrie classic in a pantomime form but still keeping to the much-loved story of the Darling children who fly off to Never Never Land with the eternally youthful Peter Pan."

There was a cast of 38 for the show and musical director was Derrick Judge.

Choreography and costumes were provided by Nellie English.

Antony Wilcock played the dastardly Captain Hook and the Big Chief was Susan Todd.

Peter Pan would not be flying across the stage on wires in this production but there was the promise of some special lighting effects.

The article noted: "The script is a re-working of the original Peter Pan show, created last year specially for children's productions.

"It will be the first time it's been done in this area."
