THE story behind a business most Barrovians will have visited starts a new series of talks for a Furness history group.

Philip Heath will be the guest speaker on September 28 for Barrow Civic and History Society.

His presentation is called Heath's a Family Business, From Market Stall to Dalton Road.

Many will have been to the store through the decades for books, maps, toys and games, stationery and artist's supplies.

The society's talks are from 2pm in the Trinity Centre, off Abbey Road and all are welcome.

On October 26 there will be a presentation by Rod White called The Stories Behind The Stones —Ulverston Cemetery.

His talk will reveal the brave, successful, or unusual lives behind some of the town's headstones.

On november 30 Dr Rob David will provide a nostalgic look at how we used to have summer fun in past decades.

His presentation is called Holidaying in the Lake District in the 1940s and 1950s.
