A team of young Furness showjump riders finished sixth at the National Novice Championships held in Cheshire.
A major swimming event at Windermere was stopped after 70 minutes due to safety fears as strong winds whipped up waves on the lake. The Windermere Championship was to be contested over a 10-mile course but support boats faced being swamped.
