A YOUNG footballing starlet has been inspiring a group of pupils.

England U17s star Georgia Stanway met children at St James CE Junior School in Barrow.

The England captain and Manchester City Ladies player helped to inspire the next generation to be the best that they can be.

The Barrow and Cumbrian Young Sports Personality of the Year winner

provided an inspirational talk to Year Five and Year Six pupils as part of an English lesson. The topic was ambitions and enterprise.

The sports star was quizzed about her early life and how she has managed to achieve so much in such a short space of time.

Year Five teacher Liam Reid is also assistant head of youth at Barrow AFC Performance Centre, and used the new links with Georgia to motivate and inspire the children.

Mr Reid said: "I have known Georgia for a little while through her involvement at the performance centre and thought it would be a fantastic opportunity for the children to understand what it means to be successful and how to get there. Georgia did just that and provided excellent links outside of the world of sport.“

The striker has been in pre-season training with the Women’s Premier League giants before jetting off to California with England.
