Cumbrian accountant one of the profession's rising stars
Last updated at 15:12, Friday, 22 June 2012
An executive who swapped science for accountancy is one of his industry’s brightest young prospects.
Chris Lamont has been included in the “35 under 35” – a list of some of the accountants to watch throughout the UK. It is the latest success for a man who changed careers to join his family’s firm and has led the creation of its Carlisle office.
Judges in the poll, compiled by industry publication Accountancy Age, were impressed by how Chris had created the city operation, which has grown to employ 22 staff in the past four years.
Chris, 31, who is managing director of the Carlisle office, said: “It is a great honour to be included in the ‘35 under 35’.
“Of course, far from resting on my laurels, I plan to continue building on the success we have enjoyed at Carlisle so far.”
He graduated from Brunel University, London, with a medical science degree making the switch to accountancy in 2003. He qualified four years later.
Lamont Pridmore chief executive Graham Lamont – a former high sheriff and Chris’s dad – said: “Chris has achieved a phenomenal amount in a relatively short time.”
