A company that has made inflatable structures for BMW, Clarence House and BT is moving to Cumbria.

Award-winning Inflate Works has moved from Rochester in Kent and will now be based in Penrith.

The company has provided huge inflatable structures across the globe, earlier this year creating one for BMW at a UN conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

They were even involved in the London Olympic Games, making a giant purple double dome for chocolate firm Cadburys in Hyde Park.

Inflate Works’ impressive structures have also popped up in LA, Paris, Antwerp, Houston, Montpellier, Bologna and Barcelona.

Managing director Rob Statham said: “Being based in Cumbria will be great for the business and it is a really exciting opportunity.

“I have always seen Cumbria as a great place to run a business from.

“People think it’s the back of beyond but we have great transport links and the facilities available to us are perfect for our business needs.”

The future looks bright for the business, with Mr Statham adding: “We have some great installations lined up in the UK and further afield.

“With interest coming every day, 2013 is looking set to be an exciting year.

“We will also be turning our attention to events happening in 2014, including the Winter Olympics in Sochi and the World Cup in Brazil.”

Mr Statham and his partner in the business, Nick Crosbie, decided to create Inflate Works as a sister company to Inflate Products.

Inflate Works now focus on hire and installation of the structures across the UK and globally, while Inflate Products focusing on design, sales and manufacture.

Inflate Works has a small core of four staff.

However, in busy months this can rise to upwards of 30 crew working on different projects.
