The good, the bad & the ugly
Last updated at 14:49, Friday, 09 March 2012
IT was good week, bad week for the club, with a great 2-1 win away at Kidderminster on Saturday followed by a 1-0 home loss against bottom-of-the-table Bath City on Tuesday.
The big thing is not to overreact to Tuesday. Yes, it was not a great result and it’s a game we really should have won but, at the end of the day, if we had lost to Luton instead of winning and then followed that up with wins over Kidderminster and Bath, we would be writing about how we are still in with a massive chance of the play-offs.
The fact is we are still in the fight and it’s important we remain so in order to give ourselves the best chance possible.
We now face three massive away games at Wrexham, Cambridge United and Mansfield in the space of eight days.
These matches will determine the outcome of our season. We don’t need to win them all, we just need to come out with as many points as possible.
Teams will drop points and anything can happen at this stage of the season, so let’s try and hang on in there to see what happens.
Off the pitch, members of the Independent Supporters’ Club and those who use the fans’ unofficial online forum have been doing some fantastic work.
Supporters on the forum have raised more than £4,000 for the club as part of our 2012/13 sponsorship draw, so a massive thank you to all who have been involved.
Also, supporters gave Tuesday’s game a massive push on the internet, put up posters and then took Bluey the club mascot around town to promote the match. Again, a massive thank you to all involved.
These sorts of things make being involved with the club all the more worthwhile. Yes, it’s hard at times and you wonder why you get involved, but things like this just make you realise it’s all worth it.
The day we get back in the Football League will be some party and I, for one, can’t wait. It will happen and with support like we’ve had over the past few weeks it’s going to happen sooner rather than later.
For now, let’s try and beat our best finish in this division. The aim is for the team to have a fantastic end to the season and if we do so, who knows, that party might not be too far away.
