CUMBRIAN-BORN former Barrow AFC striker Grant Holt, who has been banging in goals for fun at Norwich City this season, has not been included in the England squad for this summer's European Championships.
Calls to include the powerful 31-year-old forward in the 23-man squad were ignored by new England manager Roy Hodgson, who selected Wayne Rooney (Man United), Danny Welbeck (Man United), Andy Carroll (Liverpool), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham) as his strikers.
England squad for Euro 2012:
Goalkeepers: Joe Hart (Man City), Rob Green (West Ham), John Ruddy (Norwich)
Defenders: Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Phil Jones (Man United), John Terry (Chelsea), Joleon Lescott (Man City), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Leighton Baines (Everton)
Midfielders: Theo Walcott (Arsenal), Stewart Downing (Liverpool), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Gareth Barry (Man City), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Scott Parker (Tottenham), Ashley Young (Man United), James Milner (Man City)
Forwards: Wayne Rooney (Man United), Danny Welbeck (Man United), Andy Carroll (Liverpool), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham)
Standby players: Jack Butland (Birmingham City), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Adam Johnson (Manchester City), Daniel Sturridge (Chelsea).

First of all, am a big england supporter, and am quite suprised at the decison of a couple of players, Stuart Downing scored 2 goals in the season and one of them was against oldham, and most importantly he didnt get a single assist!! for a winger that is dreadful, He shouldnt be on that plane!
Andy Carroll, He plays fairly well in his last couple of games, and is in the limelighht, them two games got him in the squad, Would have choose Crouch over Carroll any day, especially with croucheys record and experience,Both liverpool players!
We as Fans can only hope!!
ENGLAND!

Have your say
Hopefully Holt can make Team GB instead? As lets face it they have more chance of winning than England? Either way i'll still be getting behind both teams over the summer.
