Black Cats boss Steve Bruce promises to field a strong side in FA Cup third round tie

SHOULD Barrow AFC progress in the FA Cup they will face what Sunderland manager Steve Bruce promises will be a strong Black Cats team.
The Bluebirds are just one win away from a dream tie against the Premier League millionaires at the 49,000-capacity Stadium of Light in the third round.
A victory over Conference Premier rivals Oxford United in the second round replay at Holker Street a week today, will see the Bluebirds take on a Sunderland team which could be littered with superstars such as England hot-shot Darren Bent, Scotland international keeper Craig Gordon and Trindad and Tobago striker Kenwyne Jones.
Although unsure as to who his opponents will be in the third round, Bruce has warned his players against over-confidence.
He told safc.com: “The FA Cup is a priority for us this season and we want to go as far as possible.
“But whichever of the two sides we face, we won’t be thinking it’ll be a walkover, this competition produces shocks and we must take every precaution to make sure we don’t end up getting a nasty surprise.
“There’s no pressure on a non-league side coming up here. They will come up for a good day out and to give it a go against us.
“We will give whoever we play the respect they deserve. We will be playing a strong team.”
