Bosses talking to defender tonight

BARROW AFC are hoping their potential new defender will be able to attend training tonight, writes GRAHAM DIXON.
The unattached left-sided player – who the club have not yet named – was set to come into the squad ahead of Tuesday night’s game with Rushden.
However the defender, who has played in both the English and Scottish Leagues, had taken ill and was unable to sign.
AFC joint-manager Darren Sheridan said they hoped the player would be at training.
He said: “We know he was poorly earlier in the week so me and Dave are hoping to have a chat with him tonight.
“I can’t say anymore at this stage about whether he will be signed before the weekend game with Lewes.”
Sheridan said he was pleased with the way the re-shuffled team had performed in the 1-1 draw with Rushden.
He added: “Paul Brown’s come in and done well, Bondy did well and so did Carlos (Logan) at left back.
“This gives us more options and cover in different areas.
“But we’ve got to stop giving the ball away, be a bit more composed.
“I know the conditions were bad but the players are old enough to think for themselves.”
l The Independent Barrow AFC Supporters Club have filled a 33-seater coach for the mammoth round trip to Lewes.
They do still have seats left for Salisbury on September 13, the coach leaving Ramsden Square at 6am. The price is set at £28 members and £30 non-members but may be lowered, contact Stuart on 07791268705.
