10-man Barrow sunk by five-goal Southport

TEN-MAN Barrow AFC went from leading 1-0 at half-time to losing 5-2 at Southport.
Matt Flynn's early goal put the Bluebirds ahead before recalled goalkeeper Danny Hurst saved Shaun Whalley's penalty.
Flynn netted with a close-range header after only five minutes, before Barrow midfielder James Owen was sent off for a professional foul after hauling down Whalley in the area.
But Whalley's poor penalty was kept out by Hurst whose heroics maintained the visitor's lead.
However, after the break, the Sandgrounders took complete control of affairs, netting through a Karl Ledsham brace, plus singles from Liam Willis, Chris Almond and Andy Owens.
Adam Boyes scored a late consolation from the penalty spot, but it was the defensive frailties of a side which has now conceded 13 goals in their last two matches which proved costly.
The changes to the side that got hammered 8-1 at Mansfield Town on Saturday saw Hurst recover from a shoulder injury to take over from Shaun Pearson, while midfielder Garry Hunter came in for Danny M Rowe. Veteran Nigeria defender Efe Sodje made his debut at the back, but was unable to hold together the back line.
Striker Lee McEvilly recovered from a chest problem to take his place on the bench, but defender Sean Hessey was still ill and midfielder Richie Baker was missing through suspension.

Well said and nice encouragement Kidderminster Bluebird, which is a far cry from the band of soulless critics that pepper this site with jaundiced comments about Barrow Soccer most notably led by that leader of the pack with the silly name 'cuffy'.Its quite obvious that these critics are fans of the raiders whose lives are in turmoil because at one stage they were going to break eggs with a big stick and now its all falling flat on its back.
