Disappointment as Barrow AFC v Macclesfield FA Cup tie is postponed
Last updated at 11:06, Sunday, 02 December 2012
SUPPORTERS, players, managers and club officials were left disappointed when Barrow AFC's FA Cup second round tie against Macclesfield Town at Holker Street was called off.
A statement on Barrow's official club website says: "Barrow's FA Cup tie was called off at 1pm after failing a lunchtime inspection.
"The game looked set to go ahead following a 9am inspection when hard areas were expected to thaw in the rising temperatures.
"However, these areas had not improved to the match referee's satisfaction when he came back at lunchtime and hence the decision was made to postpone the game.
"The game will now be played on Tuesday, December 11th with a possible replay pushed back a further week to December 18th.
"Barrow AFC regret any inconvenience caused and fans already with tickets should keep them for December 11th."
Both Barrow and Macclesfield will now join all the Premier League big boys in the hat for the third round draw, which takes place tomorrow (Sunday), live on ITV at 2.40pm. Barrow/Macclesfield will be ball number 57.
