Directors plea to Barrow AFC fans ahead of Macclesfield cup clash

THE Barrow AFC board of directors have issued a rallying call for supporters to get behind the club’s struggling team.
The Bluebirds lost 2-0 at home against Hereford United in front of the live Premier Sports television cameras on Friday night and for 19 hours sat bottom of Blue Square Bet Premier.
Nuneaton, who were thrashed 6-1 at Wrexham on Saturday, have now replaced Barrow at the foot of the table due to their inferior goal-difference.
With the season approaching the halfway stage, attention now shifts to the FA Cup and tomorrow’s huge second round tie against non-league rivals Macclesfield Town at Holker Street (kick-off 7.45pm).
At stake is £27,000 in prize money and a home third round tie against the best team outside of the Premier League, Cardiff City.
In a statement, released on the club’s website, the board of directors say: “Tuesday night’s FA Cup tie against Macclesfield is now looming large and the club are hoping that the Furness public will turn out in force as they have done for big games in the past.
“With the prize of a home third round tie against Cardiff City, the club hope that fans will turn out to be the extra man to take them past a tricky Macclesfield.”
The Bluebirds will be desperate to see a big increase on Friday night’s attendance, which at just 867 was described as “another disappointing crowd” by the club in a season that has seen numbers on the terraces fall significantly.
Barrow supporters who retain tickets from tomorrow’s second round tie will – if AFC make it through – be given a priority sales period, after members and season-ticket holders but before general sale, to get third round tickets.

BAFC were given 5000 quid for hosting this televised match, with an attendance of 867 & divide 5000 pound against say 13 quid entrance fee equates to 385 folk paying 13 quid to get in, so really you could argue that the attendance monies gained = Att of 1252 So they never lost out at all.
