AFC's Walker offered Doncaster trial

Championship side want closer look at Barrow-born striker

BARROW AFC star striker Jason Walker has been offered a trial by Championship side Doncaster Rovers.

The 25-year-old impressed Doncaster manager Sean O'Driscoll during Saturday's pre-season friendly game at Holker Street, which Doncaster won 2-0.

Walker played the full 90 minutes in that game and came closest to scoring for the Bluebirds.

He has now been offered the chance of a trial game with Doncaster tomorrow night. The Bluebirds, meanwhile, have a game of their own tomorrow night, when they go to lower league Penirth for their fifth game of pre-season.

A Barrow AFC club statement said: "Barrow striker Jason Walker impressed Championship visitors Doncaster Rovers so much during Saturday's friendly that they have offered him a trial in a game on Tuesday night.

Walker, who has just signed a two-year contract at Holker Street, fashioned a couple of chances during the game and will be eager to
impress to try and land a move three rungs up the pyramid.

"Barrow joint boss Dave Bayliss said "We obviously would not want to stand in Jason's way if he wants to move to such an excellent club."

"Any move would be subject to the clubs agreeing a fee for the popular Flookburgh-based striker.

"Under FA rules ,contract players, with permission from the parent club (which has been granted), can play up to two trial non-first team
competitive games inside one calendar month."
