POLICE can now identity the male who was found dead yesterday morning in Windermere.
The deceased has been formally identified as Gordon James Smith, aged 44, of Church Street, Windermere.
Police were called at 2.04am yesterday to reports of concern for the welfare of a male in Brookside, Lake Road, Windermere.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Four people – two local males aged 26 and 31, and two females, aged 48 and 15, who were visiting the Lake District - have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are still being questioned by Police.
The area around the scene of Brookside, Lake Road remains the subject of on-going Police enquiries, but the road has now been re-opened.
