WHEN people talk about fine lines in football, heading into the 81st minute at Halifax on Monday, we were on course for being up to around 10th place in the National League table.

But we let our lead slip and went down 3-1.

I’ve been in the business a long time and that’s how football is, it’s very cut throat.

We’re big enough and bold enough to know that people want more and we expect more.

So, yes, we’ve got a tough home game against Eastleigh tomorrow and it’s another big game. But they are all big games.

Games that people think you’re going to go and win, you might not win and vice-versa. So it’s a big game and hopefully it will be a really positive day.

You just go about your job in a professional manner and collectively – the management team and as players – we need to turn it around.

We’ll constantly motivate and encourage the players.

As a group, we watched the Halifax game and we’ve seen that it’s another game that we shouldn’t have lost and we should have tried to go on and get that second goal which we obviously try and encourage the players to do.

But looking at our game management, and looking at it collectively, little mistakes have cost us a football match that on any other day we probably would have won. But that’s just sort of the way it’s gone for us of late.

But we’re not going to feel sorry for ourselves. We’re going to bat on and we know we’ll change it and we’ll try and get some positivity back tomorrow.

Last Saturday we achieved a good result against Southport, the vibe was good, and we wanted to go and pick up back-to-back wins on Monday but unfortunately we didn’t.

Tomorrow is a chance to really resurrect ourselves again.

Eastleigh have got some good players – players who are good money and ex-Football League players who have done well.

I’m talking about the likes of strike duo James Constable and Jack Midson and midfielder Andy Drury. They are all big, strong and physical players and, yes, Eastleigh are going to provide a great test for us.

But we’re at Holker Street and, whatever we’ve done away from home, at home, I think we’ve looked quite solid and if we can just add a little extra to that then we’ll cause them problems, we know that.

It’s just about how we hurt them. We want to go and have a go, which is what we’ve more or less tried to do all season.

When we’ve gone 1-0 up, which we have done few times, people have pointed to us not being able to hold on to the lead and we’ve looked at it. We’ve got the first goal and we maybe haven’t been able to mentally withstand that and see it through. Out game management needs to be better.

But, again, its about fine lines – we were nine minutes away on Monday, but that’s football and that’s how fine lines define football.

Let’s keep the home form going. It’s going to be a really tough test, but let’s go and win the game and resurrect the week.

The support from the fans has been fantastic and we need them to stick with us.

Up the Bluebirds!
