CALIFORNIAN guitarist Dan Baird brings his unplugged tour to Cumbria next week.

The lead singer with 80s rock band The Georgia Satellites returns to Bootleggers in Kendal with a stripped-back version of his own band on Tuesday night.

His first-ever acoustic tour includes material from throughout his career, and the San Diego band will be playing their own Rolling Stones-influenced tunes.

The Georgia Satellites topped the US charts in 1986 with Keep Your Hands to Yourself, and also had moderate success in the UK with their cover of Hippy, Hippy Shake. Dan Baird and Homemade Sin continue in the same vein, playing Southern-styled no-frills rock.

Drummer Mauro Magellan, who accompanied Baird during his glory years, joins him in the band, along with ex-Bonafide man Micke Nilsson on bass and Jason And The Scorchers founder member and guitarist, Warner E. Hodges.

Homemade Sin performs a mixture of Baird's solo material in addition to the hits and fan favorites from his years with the Georgia Satellites. Creating confusion for some fans, there is a reformed version of The Georgia Satellites featuring original guitarist Rick Richards and bassist Rick Price, who joined the group to replace original bassist Keith Christopher, who left The Georgia Satellites prior to their fame.

This Dan Baird-led project has visited Bootleggers many times in recent years, but this will be the first time Cumbria has heard the tracks performed in this stripped-back manor.

Doors open at 7.30pm and tickets are available on the night, or in advance at a reduced rate from the venue.
