TOM Sibley will ask his Millom team for one last push to bring the National Conference Division Two trophy back to Devonshire Road.

His troops travel to Oldham St Annes tomorrow and the Woollybacks boss believes the side have enough left in the tank following a lengthy season to land the one point required that will see them champions just 12 months after being relegated from Division One.

However, the team leader and influential former BARLA international will sit this one out due to a shoulder injury.

Also ruled out through work commitments are Dane Kelly and Shaun Errington, but back in after missing out last week in that crucial 26-8 defeat at Featherstone Lions are Owen Myers and Steve Dawson.

The Woollybacks have being running neck and neck throughout the campaign with the Lions who occupy top spot on points difference – both have 30 points – and defeat for the Millomites will see former Barrow half-back Jamie Rooney’s side go into Division One as champions.

Sibley said ahead of the most crucial game of a season which has gone down to the wire: “It is going to be tough, make no bones about it, but we should be too strong all round for them, we have a strong side available. It is up to us to do the business. We will have to be totally switched on.

“They are at home and they will want to go out with a bang ( St Annes have been relegated to Division Three). I will tell the lads to go out enjoy the game and let’s get a win. I would like to go on record and thank the lads for their commitment and efforts this year, and also to everyone at the club.

“We have been promoted at the first attempt.”

This Millom side is one of the strongest for many years, with a blend of experience and youth.

The young lads have grown in stature this term maturing under the guidance of Sibley (the county’s under-17s coach) and his coaching team.

Lads like Bobbie Wright, Owen Myers, Lee Postlethwaite, Frazer McLaughlin, Tom Newbigin and Dominic O’Brien, are supplemented by the old heads of Sibley, Lee Edmondson, Marcus O’Brien, Midge Dixon and new recruit from Down Under Warwick Carter.

And which other club can proudly parade week in and week out three brothers in Adam, Dane and Ethan Kelly?

The future looks bright at Devonshire Road and will be even brighter with a victory tomorrow.

St Annes are rooted at the foot of the ladder with just one win from 17 games registering 266 but conceding 677, while Millom have 15 victories from 17 with 516 points against 254.
