THE wet weather and gale-force winds decimated the amateur football programme again at the weekend, with November being almost a write-off for some clubs.

No games were played in the Furness area, with only one pitch being declared fit in the Furness Premier League.

Unfortunately the superb new drainage system at Bootle was not put to use as FC Barrow Island were unable to raise a team to travel.

Holker Old Boys might be thanking the weather however as they were losing 4-1 at Rochdale Town when their North West Counties Division One game was abandoned.

Their Lancashire Challenge Trophy tie with Colne is now planned to be played this Wednesday at Rakesmoor, 8pm kick-off.

Crooklands Casuals will certainly wish they had not played their West Lancashire League Premier Division game at Charnock Richard after they suffered a 10-0 defeat.

The home side are again challenging for the title and after taking an early lead they never looked back.

It was 3-0 by half-time and Cassies crumbled in the second half. In Division One, Askam United travelled to Bolton to play on Ladybridge’s plastic pitch and made a game of it before going down 5-2.

The hosts went 2-0 up but Kris McLean pulled a goal back before half-time and after the break Luke Reid levelled the scores.

Ladybridge then scored three times in a 15 minute spell to take the points.
