BARROW Celtic have sent out a warning to the Furness Premier League that they want to ‘win everything’ this season, writes JAMES MADDEN.

Hoops joint-manager Dave Tomanski has warned the rest of the division his side are not only reluctant to relinquish their league title but wants cup success as well.

After their success in the league last season, Celtic have made the perfect start to this campaign, winning both their games without conceding.

Furness Cavaliers reserves are the latest visitors to Newby Terrace tomorrow, and Tomanski is delighted with the way his team have started their title defence.

“The lads have been top-drawer,” he said. “We have worked incredibly hard throughout pre-season and have played some superb football along the way.”

However, with last season’s top-scorer Andrew Hainey out injured until Christmas and first-choice centre-half Callum Batty still a couple of weeks away from full fitness, Tomanski is wary ahead of the visit of Cavaliers.

“We’re obviously expecting a difficult game,” he added. “They will want to end our 100 per cent winning run and we have a few players still not fit.”

With a couple of first-team regulars already ruled out, Celtic’s joint-boss says injuries have presented a ‘golden opportunity’ to some players.

“We will have to shuffle the pack in terms of team selection, but the squad is more than strong enough,” he said. “Players who don’t usually necessarily play week in week out, suddenly get to prove their worth.”

Celtic go into the weekend on the back of a midweek victory over Barrow Wanderers – their second 2-0 success in as many games.

Jack Dulgnan and Ryan Barker scored the goals to maintain their 100 per cent start.

There was a full set of fixtures in the Premier Division and the Hoops are one of four clubs with perfect records thus far. GSK Ulverston Rangers reserves stayed top on goal difference after a 3-1 win over Kirkby United.

Josh Cronin scored twice, with Dan Lee converting a penalty and John Marrs replying for Kirkby.

Hawcoat Park reserves triumphed 3-1 at the Training Pitch against Furness Rovers reserves, with goals from Mike Wilkes, Brandon Collins and a Ryan Magtoto penalty. Rovers’ reply came from Jack Cooksey.

Bootle also gained a second victory by beating local rivals Millom reserves 4-2.

The Millhome outfit were impressive in the first half, scoring through Andrew Knowles, Aaron Bradley (2) and Oliver Smith.

Millom responded well in the second half, with Paul O’Callaghan and Tyler Maxwell-Kelly netting.

Brian White’s Britannia opened their account for the season with a tight 1-0 win over Furness Cavaliers reserves through a Ben Johnson penalty.

Vickerstown reserves also earned their first success of the season by beating Holker Old Boys reserves 2-1 at Park Vale.

Dean Crossman and Mark Johnson scored for Vickerstown, with Steve Forbes on target for Holker.

Askam United reserves and Swarthmoor Social reserves both gained their first point by drawing 1-1 at Duddon Road.

Swarthmoor started well and led at half-time through a Jimmy Taylor bullet header, but Danny Rose equalised for Askam after the break.

At least one of the 100 per cent records will end tomorrow as Bootle play host to GSK Ulverston Rangers reserves, while Millom reserves and Kirkby United have the chance to get off the mark when they meet at Kirkby tonight (6.15pm kick-off).

A Matt Burrows goal earned Cartmel their first North Lancashire League Premier Division win of the season at Mayfield United on Wednesday after they lost 2-1 at Carnforth Rangers last Saturday.

They do not have a game tomorrow, but travel to Arnside on Wednesday.

A Rob Bruce goal gave Vickerstown a deserved midweek point from a 1-1 draw at Slyne with Hest in the West Lancs Premier Division.

Vickerstown are one of nine local West Lancs sides who have home games tomorrow as they host Thornton Cleveleys.

Crooklands Casuals face a trip to Eagley, while in Division Two Swarthmoor make the short trip to Furness Rovers.

Division One leaders GSK Ulverston Rangers are at home to second-placed Burscough Richmond.

Holker are in Emirates FA Cup action as they welcome Dunston UTS to Rakesmoor Lane in the preliminary round.
