YOUNG boxing hopefuls were given a masterclass in the noble art when a world champion fighter popped into their gym.

Jimmy Kelly, who holds three world youth super welterweight belts, visited Barrow ABC’s Brook Street home last weekend after doing a question and answer session in the ring during the club’s annual charity bout and auction night the previous evening.

Kelly signed autographs, posed for photographs and gave advice to the youngsters at Brook Street.

The 23-year-old from Manchester is preparing for a world title fight against current WBO light-middleweight champion, Liam Smith, at Manchester Arena next month.

Barrow ABC head coach Jeff Moses said: “It was nice of Jimmy to pop down and it was very inspiring for the kids to meet a world champion and see his title-winning belts.”
