CHRIS Pease is celebrating an excellent performance in the final round of the 2015 Northern Karting Championship to help him claim an inter club championship prize.

The championship is made up of two kart clubs, the CSSC and CSMA, and Pease’s runners-up spot in the final race in Birmingham saw him lift the CSMA title and finish second in the overall standings, three points behind the overall champion.

The 21-year-old, who lives in Barrow, enjoyed a successful season overall in the competition, earning four podium finishes in the nine rounds of action, three times as runner-up and once landing third spot.

“Despite not taking a win throughout the season I had finished consistently high enough to beat my rivals by a mere two points,” said Pease of his inter-club championship achievement.

“Personally I would have liked to have finished on the podium more often and to have taken a win, but I had been unlucky in some of the races.

“It has been a difficult season with some strong drivers in attendance, meaning the podiums meant more than usual.”

As well as being busy in the Northern Karting Championship, Pease also earned a second-placed finish in a single round of the Rugby Kart Club series at Sutton Elms where he was up against national level drivers.

And he has also tested his racing skills abroad with an appearance in the Polish Indoor Kart Championship in Szszecin.

“This was my first taste of international level racing,” said Pease.

“The competition was incredibly tough with less than half a second splitting every race meaning every split second decision counted, especially with the stop and go style pit stops used in the qualifiers.

“The event was an incredible experience and a great learning experience as a driver to improve on my own skills and to use them else where on track in the future.

“Next year I will be returning to the Northern Karting Championship hopefully to retain the title while entering the Rugby Kart Club and also attending the British and Polish Indoor Kart Championships in another effort to score some huge success on the world stage.”

Pease has been racing for approaching nine years, taking part in various championship events, from club to national level. One of his biggest successes came last year, when he claimed one win and an impressive six podium finishes out of seven at the National Karting Championships at Sutton Elms.
