THE end of November is hardly the best time of year to venture out on to Coniston Water without a boat – unless you are Brian Holme.
Mr Holme had what was described as an amphibious scooter.
His successful outing on the lake was reported in the Evening Mail of November 30 in 1966.
The paper noted: “The scooter is fitted with fibre glass floats and is the idea of a Northern scooter manufacturer’s representative.
“The floats can be attached to the scooter, a normal production line model, in a few minutes.”
