A RARE early work by Lake District author and illustrator Beatrix Potter should make close to £2,000 in the August 31 sale by Lyon and Turnbull in Edinburgh.
This copy from the first privately printed edition of The Tailor of Gloucester was one of just 500 copies produced in 1902 and has a pre-sale estimate of £1,200 to £1,800.
The September 8 to 9 sale at Station Road, Cockermouth, has a large selection of first editions or early printings of books by Beatrix Potter in the 150th anniversary of her birth.
Expect to pay £250 to £350 for a first edition example of The Roly-Poly Pudding, or £300 to £500 for a 1906 first edition book The Story of Miss Moppett.
The sale from August 31 to September 1 by Reeman Dansie, of Colchester, includes a full-size violin made by Walter H, Mayson, of Newby Bridge.
It is dated 1875 and comes with a bow and case with a pre-sale estimate of £80 to £120.
