THIS tastefully-decorated home in a popular residential area of Barrow has proved to be a perfect first home for Alice and Andrew Cairns, as SUSAN GOODSON found out.

ALICE and Andrew both agree they could not have wished for a better first home and they will take away the most wonderful memories of which the house has played its part in.

Added to this its superb location means the couple have no plans to move to another area.

Situated in the middle of both their parents, close to friends, convenient for shops, schools and work, it is perfect. Alice walks to work while Andrew hops on his bike.

The house, 51 Provincial Street, Barrow, is in a popular residential location off Friars Lane Barrow and is a terraced home offered for sale in immaculate condition throughout with gas central heating on the first floor, a multi purpose burner downstairs, u.P.V.C double glazing and a high standard of decoration. Inside there is an entrance hall, lounge, dining area, kitchen and to the first floor are two bedrooms with separate access from the landing to the bathroom.

To the back of the property is an L-shaped yard which makes an ideal seating area.

Sitting in their lounge plenty of natural light streams in from the double patio doors which look out on the secure back yard.

An open arch leads into the dining area from the lounge.

Of the time they have spent in the house, Alice said: “We could not have bought a better first home, it has been a wonderful house to live in and we have wonderful memories of being here.

“The only things we have done are cosmetic, decorating it to our liking, nothing else needed to be done.

“It is a light warm house and the location here is so quiet with a good mix of people – older couples and families with young children and it is so quiet.

“We have central heating upstairs but there is no need for it down here with the multi-fuelled stove which is really lovely and cosy in the winter.

“During the summer we have the doors open a lot, particularly when we have people around. Andrew especially likes sitting out in the yard.

“When we moved in the house already had a new kitchen and bathroom.

“I do love my bathroom with its slipper roll top bath. We had thought of putting in a shower cubicle but decided we didn’t need to in the end.”

The master bedroom is a lovely double room to the front of the house while the second room, which also plays host to the couple’s nieces for sleep overs, doubles as a handy storage area thanks to its full length sliding door wardrobes. Even with the wardrobes taking up as much room as they do it is still a good sized second bedroom.

Alice and Andrew added: “The boiler has just been checked and passed inspection.

“We are going to miss the house so much and we love the area itself plus it is so handy for having families and friends over.

“We have had lots of gatherings here, we got engaged and then got married while we have lived here.

“The only reason we are selling the house after four years is that we are thinking of starting a family.”
