A DETERMINED Ulverston fundraiser will brave freezing sea waters on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day when he takes on charity dips.
Gary Smedley, 45, is determined to raise money for the fund set up by Lily Bown's parents, Rebecca Walker and Kyle Bown, after reading about their story in Wednesday's Evening Mail.
Lily Bown has cystic fibrosis and her parents are trying to raise £6,000 for a physiotherapy vest to help her medical treatment and break down mucus. The vest is not available on the NHS.
Mr Smedley, of Bay Tree Road, has volunteered himself to get cold and wet for the good cause at the height of the festive season. He said: "I've done quite a lot for different charities.
"I was thinking what I can do and thought about jumping in the sea.
"It doesn't cost me anything. If people are willing to give a little then it will great."
Mr Smedley will be doing his charity dips in the sea at Canal Foot in between his Christmas dinner and New Year celebrations.
The Evening Mail office in Abbey Road, Barrow, is hosting sponsorship forms for Mr Smedley and anyone willing to donate money to the cause can pop into the office or Donate on GoFundMe
As of Tuesday December 1, the fund has raised £2,370 of its £6,000 target.
