THE family of a man who died after a crash on the A595 have paid tribute to him, describing him as a "much devoted dad".

Kevin Ritson, of Herdus Road, Whitehaven, was airlifted to Royal Preston Hospital after suffering serious injuries in the accident yesterday.

The crash happened at 6.35pm on the A595 between Bootle and Whitbeck, and Mr Ritson later died in hospital.

His wife Anna said: “Kevin was my childhood sweetheart. He really was one in a million.

"A much devoted dad to Christopher and Layla. Also a much loved son and brother.

"Kevin was passionate about cars and motorbikes. He had not long changed his career to sell cars instead of carpets and life was good.

"He will be missed forever.”

The vehicle involved was a red Honda CBR motorcycle travelling from the direction of Millom towards Bootle.

Mr Ritson lost control at a sharp bend and crashed into a hedge.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision or may have seen two motorcycles travelling together from the Millom direction prior to the crash to contact Cumbria Police on 101 and ask to speak to the Mobile Support Group.
