Matthew Jordan went missing during a night out with friends in Windermere in March last year.
Hundreds of people joined search parties looking for the Teeside University student before his body was found in Windermere 20 days later.
An inquest into his death began in October but was halted when it was considered there were too many gaps in his last known whereabouts.
The hearing, which is expected to last a day, will be held at County Hall, in Kendal, on Friday.
