FLOOD alerts for the south Cumbria coast are in force as high tides, strong winds and waves could combine to bring a risk of localised flooding today and tomorrow.
The Environment Agency has issued alerts for North Morecambe Bay, covering Roa Island, Roosebeck, South Ulverston, Canal Foot, East Plain Farm, Arnside and Sandside, and the coast of Barrow.
High tides, strong winds and large waves could lead to tidal spray and some overtopping of defences leading to flooding of low-lying land, roads and promenades.
Lee Preston, of the Environment Agency, said: "We continue to monitor the situation closely with the Met Office and will issue flood alerts and warnings as required.
"It’s possible we could see some large waves and spray and urge people to take care near coastal paths and promenades and not to drive through flood water."
