EMERGENCY teams were called to rescue two elderly people from quicksand off the Cumbria coast this afternoon.
The Coastguard was notified that two people were in trouble near Humphrey Head, Flookburgh, at around 12.30pm and various emergency teams were dispatched to the scene, including the RNLI, Bay Search and Rescue, and Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service.
Two people had to be released from the sand and one was taken to Furness General Hospital suffering from hypothermia.
Reports made to the emergency teams stated both were stuck waist-deep in the mud.
