A FURNESS music festival has been hailed a success, after making the move to a ticketed event.

DogFest sold out in advance of the bank holiday weekend, with almost 500 people heading to the Black Dog pub, near Dalton, on Sunday.

Last year's two instalments both saw crowds spill out onto the road, such was the clamour to see the line-up of live bands and solo acts - and while the ticket numbers were limited this time around, the event further solidified its reputation as one of the region's top small festivals.

Black Dog manager Joe Garnett said: "It couldn't have gone better. As far as little festivals go, we are really stepping up our game and gaining a good reputation.

"We limited the numbers this time, but it was up there with last year's events and we're only going to grow from here.

"All the acts were great, and Charlie Box stood out for me - I'd never seen them before but they were amazing.

"The food was excellent, everything ran smoothly, and I just want to thank everyone who attended for their continued support."
