MOTORISTS endured long delays on the A590 in south Cumbria on Monday morning due to a fault with a traffic light.

The problem at the zebra crossing in Lindal resulted in journeys between Ulverston and Barrow taking up to 45 minutes.

A Highways England spokesman said the delays were due to a fault with a button on the traffic light, which caused the light to turn red too often.

Engineers disabled the button in time for the drive time rush hour and were due to return on Tuesday to fix the button permanently.
