A BARROW pub is set to close as it prepares to open a new hotel this summer.
The Furness Railway, in Abbey Road, will close on August 10 as the premises gets ready to launch its new hotel on September 1.
Wetherspoon's spokesman Eddie Gershon said: “We are looking forward to opening our new hotel alongside The Railway Furness in Barrow.
“Work is progressing well and the hotel is set to open on September 1.
“The pub will be closing on August 10 and will reopen in line with the hotel.
“The new hotel is set to create up to 15 new jobs and we are confident that it will benefit not just the pub but the town itself.
“It will be a great asset for Barrow and hopefully it will play an important part in the town’s future.”
