THE "Barrow Boobylicious" team took part in the Pretty Muddy Race For Life in aid of Cancer Research UK.

They managed to raise a whopping £500 and that amount is still growing as their JustGiving page is still open for donations.

This is the second year that the team has joined in the fun - last year they completed the Race for Life at Lancaster but this year decided to get dirty and take the "Pretty Muddy" challenge in Preston.

Louise Jessiman from Barrow founded the team last year following her friend Lisa McSweeney's diagnosis with breast cancer in 2013.

She joined Louise and a gang of pink ladies in the 5k run last year following the completion of her treatment.

This year a bus full of 33 people set off early from Barrow to take part or offer support last Saturday.

The  Preston course followed a route filled with obstacles around the well-kept Moor Park. It featured of a mixture of terrains running across grass and paths, circling the Serpentine Lake and passing Preston North End Football Club.

The 5km course featured many muddy obstacles, including mud baths, tyre walks, bungee ropes, scramble nets, tunnels and at the end of the course a huge inflatable slide that delivered runners into a pool of mud.

The team has raised around £500, but their JustGiving pages are still open and donations can still be made at www.justgiving.com/lisamcsweeney

Mrs McSweeny said "It was a fun day and the team had an absolute blast.

"I felt so much better and fitter this year taking part and was touched that both my nieces, Bex and Charlotte, were able to join me this year. We all can't wait to do it all again next year."
